My favourite Autumn & Winter supplements

Hi everyone,

Many of you will know that I'm a cold frog and have to wrap up warmly once the cooler weather hits. However, I do enjoy the warming foods of Autumn and Winter - delicious soups, curries, baked potatoes with home-made baked beans (much to hubby's disgust!). There are also a few supplements I use in Autumn and Winter to boost my immune system as much as possible so I thought I'd share them as I often get asked in clinic what my staples are.

Daily use:

BioMedica Oxyguard (Anti-oxidant blend)

Free Spirit Omega-3 Algae oil (or 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal)

Changing Habits Colloidal Minerals (easily absorbable, low dose mineral blend)

Weekly use: (once or twice a week)

BioMedica Enterocare (or other probiotic - I mix them up a bit)

Additional at the first sign of a sniffle or if I've been around people who have symptoms:

Rochway Olive Leaf Extract (naturally anti-viral)

BioMedica NAC Powder or Capsules (anti-oxidant, detoxification, liver support)

If you would like to stock up I can order any of these in for you or create an online prescription which can be delivered straight to your address. My standard price for clients is 10% off the RRP. The Changing Habits Colloidal Minerals is the only one I can't do on prescription but you can order this direct from their website or I can order it in for you (I'm just about to do an order with them).

There are certainly other brands around so obviously do your research. I tend to stick with practitioner brands that I trust as they have done their due diligence and tested the ingredients for quality, purity, therapeutic dose, absorbability, and the best form of the nutrient. This is not a requirement for over the counter supplements in Australia. An example is calcium - it is often in the form of calcium carbonate which is poorly absorbed and may lead to constipation. The same with Ferrous fumerate - a popular iron supplement.

Of course, these are just examples of what I use. They are generally safe but it does depend what other supplements and medications you are already on. You also don't want to double up and spend money when you don't need to!

If you would like a supplement review we can allocate some time at your next appointment or you can book a 30 min online supplement review for $50 (current clients only). Here we can discuss the right dosages for you and ensure you get the optimal supplements for your budget.

If you have any questions at all please get in touch.

Happy immune boosting!

Carla :)
