This year I'll be showcasing one of my Favourite Things products each month to give you a more in-depth insight as to why they've made the Carla Approved cut.
This month it is one of my favourite Edible Beauty teas - No.5 White Chai Digestif.
Now I know that we often drink herbal teas simply because we like the taste of them and White Chai Digestif definitely ticks that box. However, as with all Edible Beauty teas it has a therapeutic value too.
The ingredients in No. 5 make it a brilliant tea to have after a meal to aid digestion or anytime you are experiencing digestive issues such as bloating, heartburn and abdominal cramping.
Three of the particularly active ingredients in this delicious blend have therapeutic effects on digestion:
Cinnamon is a warming soothing spice that is recommended for enhancing digestion and calming upset tummies. It also has been shown to assist in balancing blood sugar levels, making it the hero herb in this white chai blend.
Licorice root tea has been traditionally used to assist conditions ranging from an upset stomach to the common cold. It not only tastes delightful but is an effective digestive remedy, soothing upset stomachs and relieving heartburn.
Fennel is rich in volatile oil compounds which are believed to be responsible for its antispasmodic and calming properties. These compounds help to relax the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and can assist in reducing stomach cramps and bloating.
Another benefit of White Chai Digestif is it's very low caffeine content. Most chai teas are made with black tea but white tea has even less caffeine, about 1/4 the caffeine of a cup of instant coffee.
You can enjoy White Chai Digestif on its own, with honey (I use 1/2 teaspoon), or with warm milk and honey.
