Not enough time, not enough energy...

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year! Well here we are in 2023, it just keeps on rolling doesn't it?! Let's see what adventures unfold for us over the next 12 months. I feel very lucky to have some planned adventures already on the horizon - camping in Yorke Peninsula in February, WOMAD in March and Eckhart Tolle in March too.

I'm not one for New Years resolutions but I'm aware of quite a few clients struggling to get an appropriate amount of exercise or movement into their daily life at present. The main culprits are not enough time, not enough energy or not enough motivation. I get it, I've been there...and movement is my thing so if it can be a challenge for me it can be a challenge for anyone. I also know how shit I feel if I don't move enough...and if I do too much. It's a moving beast depending on how the body feels, what time of the month it is for women and what else is going on in our lives. This is why I like to have lots of options for movement so there is always something that genuinely feels good to do. One option that I've shared with a few clients recently is a short (yes 10 minutes people!) S.I.T. workout. SIT stands for sprint interval training but fear not, there is no sprinting involved! It's simply a short, targeted workout based on the principle of 20 seconds on, 2 minutes active recovery - repeat 3 times and you're done. In fact it's called One & Done by Svelte Training - a personal trainer in the USA. Here's what I like about it:

  • 10 min workouts (including a warm up)

  • Videos have the short workout but also a demo version where she goes through the exercises in more detail

  • Simple exercises - easy to modify if need be

  • No equipment needed

  • 14 beginner workouts and 14 intermediate workouts to choose from

  • One off payment of USD 29.00. No monthly subscription.

  • Even though it's only 10 mins you feel like you've actually done something (and feel less guilty for sitting back down at the computer afterwards!)

  • You don't have to think about what to do!

Tip - on the website there are three options, just click on One & Done.

Even if this doesn't sound like your thing, I hope it's inspired you to find different options so that even on the days when you feel blah, there is something simple you can do that actually feels good. That's the outcome we want - to feel good for moving - a little lighter and a little brighter both mentally and physically.

Happy moving!

Carla :)
